Camarasaurus


Camarasaurus is a sauropod dinosaur from Morrison Formation in North America. Its name means "Chambered lizard", referring to the hollow chambers in its vertebrae. Camarasaurus was a long-necked and long-tailed giant herbivore. It reached about 20 meters long and 47 tons weight. It was smaller than other sauropods from the same formation. 

Camarasaurus probably used to live in packs. Juvenile were defended by adults. Many Camarasaurus found in North America. It was the most common sauropod in its location. Camarasaurus was named in 1877 by Edward Drinker Cope. It belongs to the Family Camarasauridae, boxy-headed sauropods, which includes Camarasaurus, Euhelopus, Opistocoelicaudia, etc.
