Ceratosaurus

Ceratosaurus was a predatory dinosaur from Late Jurassic. It lived in North America, Africa and Portugal. Its name means "horned lizard". This species of dinosaur was characterized by the large jaws with blade-like teeth, along with its horns. The forelimbs were very short yet built to be powerful. Ceratosaurus was a typical theropod with large head and long tail.

When it was first discovered, it was one of the most well-known dinosaurs. Another unusual feature is that Ceratosaurus had four fingers on its hands, instead of the more common three among the other large meat-eaters.

Ceratosaurus was a medium-sized theropod. Its maximum size estimated 8.8 meters long and about 1 ton weight. Ceratosaurus lived alongside other predators such as Allosaurus, Torvosaurus and Saurophaganax. Its fossils are less common than those of Allosaurus. Probably they hunted in packs on juvenile sauropods and competed with Allosaurus for them.
